7 1/4 LMS 3F Jinty 0-6-0T
£13,500.00
This is a rare model in 7 1/4″ (one of four, that we know of!). The 0-6-0t 3F Jinty makes for a useful engine with its 100psi copper silver soldered boiler (commercially made by none other than John Ellis) and has been improved somewhat during its time with us by the addition of: main vesconite bearings; new steel tyres; a vacuum train brake; a new chimney and draughting arrangement. The two cylinder engine has stephenson’s valve gear, and features two live steam injectors, vacuum ejector, blower, hydrostatic lubricator, 2x safety valves, cylinder drains, blowdown, water gauge and a whistle.
Description
The LMS Jinty or Jocko was a direrct development of the earlier Midland Railway 3F shunting engine, developed by that company over a number of years. They became synonymous with the entire LMS network, including Northern Ireland and were built by multiple railway works – and if you can spot the differences between them, you really know your onions. Nine have survived into preservation thanks largely to the mass production of the class.
