7 1/4 GWR 54xx 0-6-0t Pannier Tank

£14,500.00

GWR 5400 series pannier tank, one of only two live steam models of this prototype (that I know of!!)

Fresh boiler certificates
2x injectors
1x cross head water pump
Vacuum brakes
Proper GWR pattern safety valves
Hydrostatic lubricator with working jockey
Regulator (disc type) with auto-gear for push pull working
Finescale yet functional back-head and controls.

A really great engine this, a new boiler was fitted in 2015 and that rebuild included a new crank axle (machined from 1 piece in solid!) and a new draughting arrangement, stainless superheaters, rose bud grate, and new safety valves built to the GWR pattern.

Recently, she’s been treated to some lining out, and had the auto-gear fitted. She’s now BR late 1950s passenger green livery.

Description

The GWR 5400 Class were 0-6-0 pannier tank locomotives built from 1930 by the Great Western Railway for suburban passenger work. Principally allocated to West London, they later appeared at former Southern Region sheds. Many were displaced from intended duties by the introduction of GWR railcar services.
