5″ NER T Class 0-8-0 Project
£1,150.00
Designed by Wilson Worsdell and introduced in 1901, the North Eastern Railway T Class — later classified Q5 by the LNER — was a capable heavy freight 0-8-0 type. Built to handle the demanding mineral and coal traffic of north-east England, the class eventually numbered 110 locomotives. A number were rebuilt with larger boilers, improving their performance. Only a handful remained in service at the formation of British Railways in 1948, with the last examples withdrawn shortly after. None survived into preservation.
Description
This is a part finished 0-8-0 project locomotive, based on the Worsdell T class design.
The chassis is made to a decent standard but is seized after many years living on a mantlepiece. The boiler is well on the way, with innerfirebox plates, tubes and flues all present and correct. There is an accompanying tender chassis which is on its wheels and rolls freely.
