6 inch Savage Little Samson Project

This is a well made part finished project engine to make a 6inch Little Samson. It’s a nice size engine and, when finished, makes a large but still manageable model. The photo gallery shows the work done thus far, by a professional model maker, now retiring. The boiler is a professionally made one too.

Description

“Little Sampson” was a 5-ton steam traction engine built by Savage of King’s Lynn, forming part of the firm’s smaller traction engine range. Designed for owners needing road mobility rather than sheer drawbar power, it was suitable for local haulage, threshing plant work and estate duties. Its lighter weight allowed operation on minor roads while retaining full traction-engine fittings, including gearing for road travel and belt-driven stationary work.
